This is an exciting time! Starting November 1st, the Pre-AP English class will be going through the Young Writers' Program, a national educational initiative to get middle and high school students writing short stories and novels.
Pre-AP students are going to be setting their daily and monthly word count goals on Monday. Parents, please check with your child daily and encourage them to spend time meeting their goals! Adults (like Mr. Wyatt!) go for 1700 words a day, but middle school students can aim for 300-1000 words a day and still write a meaningful short story. We'll be doing a lot of activities in class to support the writing, but some of it is going to have to happen outside of the classroom.
Your noveling account can be reached at ywp.nanowrimo.org.
Normal ELAR class is continuing work on our research projects this week.
Wednesday there will be a checkpoint grade on essay outlines. We will do work on them in class on Monday, but because of the field trip Tuesday we won't be able to work in class Tuesday so students may need to finish at home.
Friday is the due date for the Letters to Veterans that students are writing in ELAR and Social Studies class. Again, we'll spend time on them in class, but there will need to be some out of class time spent on making these letters really shine.
Happy Halloween, and happy 3rd grading period!
