Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break and is excited to finish out the semester. Here's the plan for this week:
ELAR: This week, we are putting together a presentation out of the essays we have been writing. Presentations need to be completely written by Wednesday, when a completion grade will be taken. We will also spend some class time doing test corrections on our benchmark exams. Students will turn this in on Friday for an easy homework grade.
Pre-AP ELAR: The Young Writers' Program ends on November 30th. I am giving until Friday, December 2nd, for us to wrap up our stories. I will be in the classroom until 6pm on Friday for anyone who wants to squeeze in a last minute writing session. Final grading will be as follows:
5000 words: 70
5500 words: 80
6000 words: 85
6500 words: 90
7000 words: 95
7500 words: 100
Any words in excess of 7500 will go towards extra credit on the final exam of the semester. Please note that the original word count goal for all students was 10,000 words total, starting November 1st. To get a passing grade, students need only have written 167 words a day if they had stayed on track throughout the month of November.
In class, we will be creating a presentation based on the stories we have written. These need to cover: main characters, main villains, and all six elements of the plot roller coaster. Presentations will be given Thursday and Friday. Students will have class time M-W to create these presentations, and are free to work on them at home or during pride time as well.
